Apodytes dimidiata is an attractive rounded evergreen tree with glossy dark green foliage. The bark is smooth and whitish grey with fine transverse ridges on older branches. The leaves are simple, alternate, glossy dark green above and duller below with a smooth margin. The white flowers are borne in loose heads and are sweetly scented. The fruit is an asymmetrical black, flattened drupe.
