This fairly hardy evergreen, semi-succulent plant bears aromatic green leaves that tend to trail. It is an attractive groundcover which bears tiny white flowers with purple markings which attract insects and birds.
It is an excellent plant to use in the forest area of a wildlife-friendly garden as it attracts, insects and insectivorous birds. It is also a butterfly host plant.
ECOLOGICAL BENEFITS:
Attracts a range of insects and is the larval host plant to some species of butterfly and moth. You may notice some leaves have been eaten, but the plant will quickly recover from this.
NATURAL HABITAT & DISTRIBUTION:
Woodland and forest margins.
MAINTENANCE:
Low maintenance.
As the plant naturally grows in forests and woodlands, it will thrive with a generous supply of leafmould, compost and mulch.

Yes, Plectranthus verticillatus can be used as a houseplant. It will require a rich potting soil kept moist and you may have to adjust the location until you find a suitable position for your plant.

Most Plectranthus species have scented foliage with varying strengths. You’ll have to check this at your local nursery.
They require moderate watering but note that the quantity of water will depend on your soil and the temperature. As a general rule, established plants can be watered once a week in summer. Remember that adding compost to your soil will increase the soil’s moisture retention which will allow you to reduce watering frequency and duration.
