A small evergreen tree or shrub with a grey bark which peels in longitudinal strips. The grey-green leaves are crowded towards the ends of the branchlets. It bears male and female cones, with the female cones red.NATURAL HABITAT & DISTRIBUTION:
Favours sandy soils along rivers and streams in the Western Cape. Sometimes seen on mountainsides.
