A small evergreen tree or shrub with a grey bark which peels in longitudinal strips. The grey-green leaves are crowded towards the ends of the branchlets. It bears male and female cones, with the female cones red.
NATURAL HABITAT & DISTRIBUTION:Favours sandy soils along rivers and streams in the Western Cape. Sometimes seen on mountainsides.

This is a protected tree in South Africa and the smallest yellowwood of the region. It prefers sandy soil.
