   Barleria repens could have yellowing leaves for a number of reasons:
   – Severe heat – which is a factor in your location
   – Exposure to sun. It is a forest plant and can experience sunburn which may be more prevalent in your location.
   – Soil deficency. It may be worthwhile having the soil tested. Yellowing leaves could be a result of low iron levels and can be corrected with applications of iron chelate or Epsom salts.
   – Over-watering leaches nutrients from the soil and can cause yellowing leaves. Check that your soil dries between watering sessions. It’s best to use a soil moisture meter or simply use the finger test.

2. Good day. I do landscaping in and around Phalaborwa (Limpopo) and like to use Barleria repens as a ground cover. What would be the reason if the leaves turn yellow, especially those of the salmon colour flower? Looking forward to your reply.
