   I am very grateful indeed for your speedy reply, and for your suggestions. the most likely one of the three, I suspect, would be attack by insects (aphids?)
   I’ll do as you say and carry out checks, both day and night.

   Thanks for visiting Plantbook.

   This is difficult to figure out without seeing the plant and its location.

   Possible causes are:-
   – Heat stress where the plant is sacrificing new growth;
   – Bird or insects eating the young foliage. You’d have to check both day and night as many leaf-eating beetles are particularly active at night.

3. Hello there ~ I would be very grateful for your help, please.
   I have three huge Carissa macrocarpa shrubs which until fairly recently, have stopped flowering because the tip of every stem turns black and dies. It’s certainly not being overwatered.

4. People can eat the fruit of this tree.

5. Does well in gauteng. Needs a few years to reach the 2m mark. Growth tends to be slow for the first 2 to 3 years.
   Very effective security hedge plant. Space 1m apart.
