Juncus effusus

DESCRIPTION

A hardy evergreen tufted perennial rush with fine, grass-like leaves that reach upward. The small brown flowers are small, dry and scaly and crowded at the tips of the long thin stems.

The reeds are traditionally used for weaving sleeping mats and baskets.

Water moderately throughout the year.
MAINTENANCE
Low maintenance. When it begins to start looking untidy, cut the plant back by half and it will sprout new shoots.
It self-seeds readily, so you may need to control the seedlings if it becomes too crowded.
