Veltheimia bracteata

DESCRIPTION

This beautiful bulbous plant bears attractive glossy, deep-green leaves with wavy edges.  It produces a spike of tubular salmon-pink to scarlet flowers that last for about a month.  The flowers resemble those of an aloe.  The leaves die back in midsummer.   After a short period of dormancy (2-3 weeks), a new set of foliage appears.
